2013 Show Highlights

Featuring International Harvester in 2013

The Albert City Threshermen & Collectors will feature International Harvester in 2013, and will host the International Harvester Collectors Club Iowa Chapter 5 for their summer show. Dates for the show are August 9-11, 2013.

“The Iowa Chapter 5 currently has 527 members,” stated Threshermen Director Connie Reinert. “We are looking forward to having a great turn-out of chapter members.  And, of course, we are encouraging all area IH enthusiasts to join in our special IH Feature.”

The Threshermen and Collectors Show, held this past August, attracted over 226 Minneapolis-Moline exhibits and over 600 other exhibits made up of tractors, gas engines and other items.

Anyone looking for more information on next year’s show can search the website, or call our office at (712) 843-2076.

The 2014 show feature will be John Deere, while hosting the Northwest Iowa 2-cylinder Club.

Iowa Civil War Reenactment to be part of 2013 show

New for 2013 will be a Civil War reenactment group during our show. The Army of the Southwest is a group of Iowa Civil War Reenactors dedicated to educating people of all ages about the Civil War through reenactments, school programs and historical events. Over 40 of their members come from throughout Southwest Iowa. The unit consists of Confederate and Union infantry, artillery, and cavalry. They also have a strong group of period civilians.

Each year, the group appears in several major battles, at least five regimental appearances and many other parades and gorup events in and around the demonstration. They will show how the soldiers lived during that era.

The reenactment is a living hisotry where members pitch tents, fight skirmishes and carry on camp life as it would have been done in the great conflict. Visitors can expect to see replicas of the tents, clothing and weaponry that were used by both the soldiers and civilians.
